you could have been someone

artist statement

you could have been someone was a single-day installation on the three main doorways into one of california state university fullerton’s high-traffic fine arts buildings.  you could have been someone sought to explore how negative language surrounding fine arts education affected students while on campus; their otherwise “safe space.”  what happens when students and faculty are confronted by the negative sentiments regarding fine arts education on campus?  the piece was vandalized by faculty and students and resulted in complaints to the dean of the college of the arts.
